For the National Montain Day (NMD) contest I decided to activated a SOTA-hill. As a carpark 47.27803 N / 7.63698 E, 1077 m.ü.M. was recommended but 2.3 km In front of the destination there is a driving ban sign with the exception “Gäste Bergwirtschaft Hinteregg gestattet (Guests at the Hinteregg mountain restaurant are permitted)”.
On the top on HB/SO-006 there was no space for a shortened and 2x 16.8 m long doublet; my SOTA-Inverted-L for 60 – 6 m would have worked. Therefore I climbed the stairs, about 20 meters in altitude, down and set up my station there in front of the rock face. The summit book is also “hidden” down there in the rock face. Thanks to the tall and branchless trees, I was able to set up my antenna. After NMD I visited a “secret” viewing lockout point nearby (recommend by a local hiker), hiked back to the car, deposited it my luggage and visited the Hinteregg mountain restaurant for chocolate and nut cake to calm my driving ban conscience.
